I teach third grade at Cincinnati Public Schools in Cincinnati, OH. My classroom is composed of 30 caring, enthusiastic and resilient learners.
During remote learning, despite struggles that we as adults have never experienced, with missing friends, teachers and their classroom, have continued to show up every day with a positive attitude and a growth mindset.
They are responsible, conscious and engaged citizens of our classroom and community.
As students return back to the classroom in the fall, I would love to give them a warm and welcoming classroom with things that they have missed out on this past year. This includes a shared group carpeted space along with a magnetic whiteboard/easel for literacy mini lessons. In addition, a large carpeted area allows for students to work in small groups together using flexible seating where they are not required to work at their desk. This will help create a cozy, community space where students can participate in classroom discussions and collaborative work with one another.
