As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they are an amazing, vibrant group of students who are ready to learn and who deserve the very best.
We are a high-performing, Title I elementary school in Nevada.
Many of my students come to kindergarten without prior access to preschool. Our ultimate goal is to have our students reading, writing, adding, and subtracting by the time they leave kindergarten. We accomplish this through various hands-on activities that are engaging, interactive, and fun. Technology is necessary for my students to get a great head start in their education. I want to get my students learning in an exciting new way.
My Project
The students in my class can use this interactive technology to help develop a wide range of skills that can help them in school and beyond. Students can use an application that can help them with their letter recognition and letter sounds, number recognition, addition and subtraction, and reading fluency. The iPad will allow a new and exciting way for my students to learn.
Technology is the way of the future, and children need to be exposed to current technology.
With increasing class sizes, technology can also be an aid for teachers. Technology can benefit students and teachers and prepare our students for a bright future. Blended learning combines classroom learning with online learning, in which students can, in part, control the time, pace, and place of their learning!
