My students need Snap & Slide Number Bonds, Numbers to 100 Match-Ups and Ten-Frame Answer Boards. Let's skip worksheets and really create problems right in front of our eyes using manipulatives, whiteboards, visual tools and conversation!
I have curious, energetic, creative, inspiring, and eager-to-learn kindergarten students in my classroom each year! I lead an organized, focused and differentiated learning environment with access to materials that address each need among various subject disciplines.
At the end of each year, and continuously throughout their educational journey, I want my students to be confident learners, seekers of knowledge and great citizens for our school, their families and the community around us.
I work diligently for each student to be challenged daily and be the best that they can be, where he or she is at, in their kindergarten journey and beyond.
I have seventeen, full-time kindergarten students and seven additional developmental students that "push-in" for fifty percent of the day in the school year 2017-2018.
They all arrive with a variety of interests, talents, backgrounds and specific emotional and physical needs. All my students need fluid transitions, a prepared, print-rich, and organized environment, sensory breaks and consistent encouragement to keep them focused and ready for each task ahead. My school is an amazing family of strong leaders and teachers, support staff, parents, and community members.
My Project
My students love to show off their learning. These tools will give them open-ended and creative ways to makes sets of numbers and share them in a unique way. Students learn from building, trial and error, collaboration and active/engaged instruction. I can already see the lights shining bright and the smiles of securing knowledge that will be a result of using these exciting math boards, counters and visuals.
My math instructional time focuses on representing and comparing whole numbers as well as modeling with math concepts including numbers, shapes, patterns and more!
The students are involved in individual, small group and large group practices to secure mathematical skills for kindergarten and beyond as I used targeted and data driven instruction to continue to move all students forward! This project will greatly compliment our learning and give my students amazing practice in math discovery and the joy that is found in learning new things!
