Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work in a middle school of more than 800 students. Although our school is equipped with a computer lab, we do not have all of the resources needed.

Due to cutbacks, we have had to sacrifice many things.

Our school is a Title I school which is publicly funded. I would like to assist students by giving them access to all of the resources they need!

Technology is the future, and I would like my students to feel valued by having a fully equipped computer lab.

My Project

Mindfulness is a wonderful skill that I want to help my students explore! The book Mindfulness for Teachers and Teach Breathe Learn will help give me activities to practice deep breathing and reflecting with my class. The essential oils, Peace and Calming and Joy, will help set the mood of the classroom and foster a calmer learning environment. The speakers will allow the students to hear the coaching to help them focus on breathing and centering themselves.

Taking a step back and relaxing can be difficult, and I want to work on this skill with my students.

I have seen many articles supporting mindfulness in the classroom. I am excited to use these resources so I too can implement this in my classroom, and ultimately my school.
