My Students

As a teacher in a low-income school district, our students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. We are looking to provide our students with creative and meaningful learning experiences through the teaching of mindfulness. The transition to middle school can be a time of stress for some students, so our goal is to create an atmosphere of mindfulness to enhance student well-being and decrease levels of anxiety.

Our students are excited to explore a new adventure in their learning!

My Project

A classroom built around mindfulness will positively impact the well-being and social/emotional growth of our students. Research shows many benefits of mindfulness in education for both students and teachers, as it decreases stress levels, encourages positive interaction, and helps balance emotions. Mindfulness in education has also shown impacts with brain growth through increased concentration and awareness. We would like to support our students in this grown by providing them with the proper equipment for yoga activity in our classroom. It is important for students to feel comfortable and to have an investment in their learning of mindfulness, which equipment will help them do!

Students will be able to use the yoga mats to practice their mindfulness within our classroom.

Having their own mat will help them feel invested in this learning.
