Help me give my students tools needed to comfortably practice mindfulness and yoga in the classroom. The meditation cushions will be a useful tool when sitting mindfully, focusing on the breath for an extended period of time.
This fall, I welcomed a lively group of 17 students into my flexible seating Kindergarten classroom. They come from various backgrounds and ability levels. All of my students are caring and compassionate in every way.
My kindergarten students have been practicing mindfulness, and learning how to regulate their emotions.
This is an important life skill that many adults still struggle with. Teaching young children how to be in the present moment, without judgement will help them to become successful, caring adults. What more could we want for our children and our world?
My Project
My students practice mindfulness and stretching each day. They amaze me with their ability to remain on task at such a young age, and our mindfulness practices are partially to thank for that.
These materials will help to broaden their practice, providing comfort while sitting in mindfulness poses and stretching.
My students look forward to our mindfulness practice each day after recess. They come in ready to relax and focus on the technique I am instructing on. Some of these techniques include; breathing, listening, and movement. All of these are done with purpose and attention to the present moment focusing on feelings and emotions.
The cushions and mats will make our time that much more enjoyable, while the books and breathing sphere will help to enhance my mindfulness instruction.
