My students need an assortment of materials to support our mindfulness curriculum, STEM robotics & coding curriculum, and math curriculum. They need robots, tablets and books.
Our students are kind, caring, and curious second graders. They are always looking for the next new book to read or the next new challenge. They have rich imaginations and are so creative at this age.
Our students are special because they each have unique needs, whether that be looking for more math challenges or finding a cozy corner to take some mindful breaths.
We are so lucky to have a classroom with two teachers. We love learning from our students because they teach us so much about the type of person they are growing up to be.
My Project
To supplement our rich curriculum in math, coding & robotics, and mindfulness, we need some essential books and materials!
The hands on, project based nature of these materials will help our students reach their learning goals.
The number lines, Tupperware to hold counting chips, and hundreds chart game will help our students with understanding place value and modeling their mathematical thinking. We expect to use our baseball card sheet holders to hold, not baseball cards, but math vocabulary cards for students to create their own math word wall. The Ikea photo stands we plan to turn into word wall stands for each table. The Samsung tablets will help us program our robots (Dash & Dot, Sphero) to support students' computational thinking. We will also use the tablets in small group work to have students share and show their thinking. Additionally, we have a mindfulness curriculum that we would like to update. We have requested more mindfulness books and glycerin to make our mindfulness jars this year.
These materials will enrich our students' learning and help them learn math, STEM, and being mindful. With an emphasis on art and creativity, we can't wait to share these materials with our students. We hope you will help us out, too!
