I am continuously amazed at the curiosity and thirst for knowledge my students have. They make everyday a joy to be an educator. My greatest pleasure of my profession is to see that "little bulb" go off in one of my students and their satisfying look of, "I got it!"
Mindfulness and meditation practices have been around for centuries, but it has only become mainstream in recent years. Research has shown time and time again the overwhelming benefits of these practices not only in organized classes, but in everyday life.
Educational environments are prime for the benefits of mindfulness and mediation.
These practices and techniques have shown to reduce stress and anxiety, increase memorization, improve health and wellness, and boost kindness. All things that middle school students can benefit from.
The mindfulness tools I have selected will be used to teach students mindfulness techniques to help lower stress, lower anxiety, and increase kindness (among many other things!). The cushions allow students to sit in a position for proper body alignment. The signing bowl is used to focus the students to begin their breathing practices. The books will help students learn the techniques of mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and kindness.
