Mindful Reset

Help me give my students needed items to build their Reset Mindfulness room that will help them build and grow their self-regulation and resiliency skills.

My Project

I am a school social work, LMSW, cross certified as also a special education teacher. I currently work in Woodbridge, CT leading a program that serves students with social, emotional and behavioral disorders. With involvement from special education students, staff, and community members, we are revitalizing a classroom space in an effort to build a room that the students have named a reset room. This room will be designed for the kids and by the kids with intention to meet their needs and support them where they are at. We are respectfully requesting funds to help finance necessary sensory/mindfulness room supplies.

The implementation of a Reset Mindfulness Room will offer countless benefits to our students physically, socially/emotionally and even academically.

When emotionally regulated humans are more readily available to learning and allows them to be more present. This program is designed to foster a therapeutic environment and a mindfulness room for students to reset in when feeling dysregulated is an ideal resource in that it offers a safe, calm, peaceful environment where students can experiment & learn to regulate their emotions using a variety of tools, ranging from their own breath-work to fidgets to sensory items to music. A skill that will help them beyond the walls of high school.

We would also like to integrate the use of mindfulness into our daily routines to help build healthy coping tools, while building resiliency skills and having this space would help foster all this.

I am respectfully requesting any available funds to help finance the development of our Reset Mindfulness Room. Your contribution will go a long way in ensuring students success today and in the future!
