MINDFUL MATH WARRIORS: Elevating Math Education with Mindfulness Training
I need help raising funds for part of the cost for my Breathe for Change training, so I can ELEVATE math instruction with yoga, mindfulness, and social-emotional learning.
Namaste! My name is Ms. Passarelli, and I am a 4th grade math teacher at a high performing STEAM school in Brevard County, FL. At the beginning of every year, I take an inventory of all my students' feelings towards math and their own abilities to succeed in this subject area . As the year progresses, and I get the privilege of watching my students grow, I am amazed at their willingness to persevere in problem solving at all levels.
In Ms. Passarelli's class, ALL students are Mindful Math Warriors!
However, with the pressures and stressors of our post-pandemic world, my students deserve every opportunity to learn math without the social-emotional barriers that are only exacerbated by Covid-19. Please help me raise the funds to become certified in yoga, mindfulness, and Social-emotional learning, so that I can transform and ELEVATE my math class into a student-centered, holistic learning sanctuary!

My Project
As a math teacher at a very high-performing school, I have seen first hand, the effects that stress has on a young mind. My students are so bright, yet carry with them the weight and pressure to achieve and succeed; so much so that they forget that their capacity to succeed in math -and life- is limitless. This is even more evident in a post-pandemic world, where the educational experience has been limited and unauthenticated in order to maintain the health and safety of all students.
With this professional development training by Breathe For Change, I believe that I can create a learning environment that is holistically student-centered, and relieves at least some of the stressors that my young students are already walking into my classroom with.
I envision a wholesome learning environment, that gives my students the space and safety to tackle all problems with confidence and self empowerment...all created with the help of mindfulness practices and Social-Emotional instruction, interwoven with my math curriculum. Namaste!
