My students are ravenous about reading, and I give them plenty of time to read independently. They are open to all that life has to offer, and they learn with a passion and zeal which inspires me.
I want them to continue to view books as a viable way to pass the time and learn about life through characters, setting, and themes.
If books are available to them, my students will read and block out the stresses of the world, and in many ways, that's what literature is about.
My Project
These creative journals will change my students' lives.
They will not only provide a focus and a structure for journaling, but each of these books will provide a variety of ways to learn mindfulness, awareness and presence, kindness, and ultimately a happier life!
I want to bring a meditative aspect to my students' journaling experience as they begin each class period with me. These journals will not only teach them how to meditate and calm themselves, but they will bring daily gratitude and a clear sense of what makes them happy in life. This can only lead to more centered, aware, kind, and grateful kids!
