My students need more access to science and social studies literacy. magazine are fun and great teaching tools for young students! These magazines will allow us access to different genres and subjects that will be interesting!

My Students

My amazing kindergarten class is comprised of 27 amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced price lunch. Within our own room we represent over 10 countries and languages, with several of my students starting the year with little to no English. They try their best everyday and we are always looking for ways to grow. Access to different literary materials is something we have been talking about and wishing for as a class!

My Project

Students should be allowed access to all types of literacy. These magazines will not only give a different presentation, but also teach about science and social studies! My students love library each week and are constantly asking if it’s time to go and how many books they can take back to the classroom. I have started bringing some of the magazines I have from my home into the classroom and the students have responded positively. I would like to be able to provide them with some non fiction magazines that are geared towards popular science and social studies topics of the world.
