Students in my first grade class are natural leaders. They take pride in taking leadership opportunities in our class. They love taking on new responsibilities to lead! Some class jobs are Counselor (helps students who are upset) and Learning Stations Managers.
All of my students are military kids: They have a parent in either the Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines.
Even though our students move every few years, we have grown into a family and have made our classroom a home.
Our class' favorite subject is science. Earlier this year, we've done a few lessons outside! We've gone bird watching and explored different types of trees in our playground. Everyday always make time to give ourselves a brain break by dancing!
My Project
Our school district is fortunate to have digital resources available, but our technology is outdated and unreliable. Currently, only 2 students can access digital resources at a time, so not all students are able to access these resources every week. Those who are able
Kindles will allow my students to access eBooks to read everyday, literacy resources to build up our reading skills, and online math tools to build our number sense.
My students will also be able to practice their reading fluency, access new information, and do more group research projects. We will also be able to have more opportunities to practice our emerging reading skills such as phonics and sight words.
I also hope that our Kindles will eventually give us more opportunities to build upon other content areas, such as science, coding from our technology classes, and social studies.
