This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school consists of all free and reduced-lunch students. We are a Charter school designed to help inner-city students be prepared to go off to high school and college.
My students are the youngest in the building, and this is generally their first classroom experience, and we learn new things every day through play, and hands-on exploration of materials in order to learn about the world around us, and how we are connected to that world in order to help change it.
My Project
These building sets will allow me to rotate new materials throughout the school year as to keep my students interested, and to increase the difficulty of the skill required as my student grow.
By helping bring these materials to my classroom you will be helping my students develop their fine motor skills, their engineering minds, and problem solving skills.
This materials will help my student build their hand muscles which are needed to write and hold a pencil. As students play with these materials they will be learning how to solve problems, and be persistent, in the face of struggle. They will work through the struggle to find the solution which are skills they will need later in the workforce.
