Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Some of my students have only ever seen a math equation and think that is the only way they can learn math. This could be the project that helps teach them that math is found everywhere in our world, including games!
My students are hardworking, second language learners with a dream to be known for more than just that.
Our school is made up with 97% Latino students and 100% of them qualify for free lunch. The students also give 200% when it comes to bettering themselves as learners!
My Project
These materials will be used to supplement the math teaching that I can do in the classroom. These students all work at different paces. As some of the students finish their math work, I want them to have more math resources to continue their learning! These math games will help broaden the views of these students', to understand that math is everywhere around us. Math can be fun and I want my students to know that! They will discover this by playing the game Rush Hour or Block by Block. These math games like Math Review or Fraction Understanding will give these students a deeper understanding because of the visuals. You and I know that math is all around us. Please help my students know this by providing fun and applicable math resources in our classroom!
This project will help build the confidence of the students by becoming better mathematicians.
Right now most of them cannot wait for math because it is the same in every language. By having these games in our classroom students will be able to learn how to be competitive appropriately and how to work as a group cooperatively. I cannot wait to see the confidence and math scores soar!
