During our math lessons, we are completing a variety of stations to help us master the skills we need to be successful with the requirements of our state testing. We play all kinds of fun math games and complete activities on the computers to help.
With all the variety we have in our math stations, we don't always have enough materials or the correct materials needed for the games or activities.
With many of them come from homes where education is not a priority and practice is not done outside of school, I try to make learning math as fun as possible and engaging for them. They should be excited to learn and complete tasks that they might not know they are learning from. In our school, we have a building-wide initiative to improve students' basic math fact recall. By completing the games and computer activities, we are working towards meeting our building goals and mastering the math of third grade.
With this project, I am asking for all kinds of math manipulatives to enhance the games provided in our math series and I have created over time. We complete all types of math games during our math block and can benefit from having more resources. The headphones will be used in our math practice station on the chrome books so we can hear the website as we complete our work.
The buttons, cubes, and counters will become game pieces and also be used to help us in our lessons in a hands-on way.
I plan on creating a multiplication fact station using the dominoes. The dice and timers will be used to help students race as they complete math facts with a partner. The write and erase pockets will be in each center so students can write on the game boards and use them over and over again. The games and centers will be stored in the bins so students can grab a bin and get started playing right away instead of collecting materials first.
