We are an inner city school with a high poverty rate and ethnically diverse population. My students are creative and spend their days not only attending core classes like Math, Science, and English, but a variety of art classes like Drama, Martial Arts, Guitar, and Photography.
HFAA prepares students for college in an academically challenging, arts-integrated environment.
Not only are my students involved in extra-curricular activities, they are dedicated to their grades. Many stay at school until five or six pm, either in tutoring or attending a club meeting. My students are well rounded and participate in activities like volleyball, ballroom dance, basketball, cheerleading and a variety of clubs from Student Council to National Honor Society and everything in between.
My Project
This tournament is an excellent event to attend. It offers a great variety of divisions, as well as a lot of competitors in the divisions that they compete in. It even offers several youth Grand Championships that they can qualify for.
This event challenges them greatly, more than most regional tournaments.
It also allows them to compete in divisions that are normally not offered.
With all tournaments, my students find that they continue to improve both their skill and their knowledge of competition every time they step on the mat and test their skills. They are easily the hardest working team that I know.
