Help me give my students flexible seating & allow us to learn in a way that suits our needs! We have recently received a flexible seats (yoga balls, stools) now we need tables to complete our work on!
My students are an amazing group of young adults who enter my classroom from different walks of life. All students at our school receive Free & Reduced Lunches, many come from low socio-economic homes. My job is not only to teach them our Social Studies curriculum, but also how to be kind, supportive, and empathetic individuals.
I hope to instill in my students a love of learning, and show these amazing students how to enter our classroom with a kind-heart, enthusiasm for learning, and a positive attitude.
Everyday we begin class with “Getcha Good News On” and students share with me, and their peers, something good that’s happening in their lives. In middle school it can be hard to focus on the positive and not get wrapped up in that fun middle school drama. So, this moment we all share together - learning about each other, celebrating each other, and continuing to create our strong classroom family, which makes these students so very special. We are learning to take interest in their peers' lives, show empathy when needed, and continue to spread kindness towards each other both in my classroom and out.
My Project
These tables will make a HUGE difference in my classroom. Currently, students are required to sit in a desk, where the chair is attached to the table, so they can't even scoot in! The desks are incredibly old, many are broken, and some even have curse words written on them. The desks are at times different sizes, colors, and heights, so when we have group work with posters, my students want to complete this on the floor because their work space is uneven.
Providing my students with a successful learning environment is crucial to our progress - and these tables are the key piece to our classroom's achievement goal!
