My Students

I teach in a Title I rural middle school. Over 70% of our school is on free or reduced price lunch. We are a K-12 building and have to share all of our resources between all the grades, so there is not a lot of available resources for the students.

The students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds.

The students have a lot of barriers to overcome to reach their full potential. We have to provide the supplies for our students to use. We do the best we can with what we have, but the resources are not available to us in our school. My students are excited about learning and want to get all they can out of their education.

My Project

Currently, we have to share the computers with the students in grades K-12. We have some wonderful computer programs that would benefit the students with closing some gaps that they have or with excelling in some areas. I would use the computers in my classroom for intervention using online educational sites. I would also use it for web quests and projects that require more computers than what is now available. The students enjoy working on the computer, and it allows me to have individualized instruction for the students and for them to work at their own pace. Having computers readily available will help all the students in the class.
