My Students

My students come from low-income families who cannot afford basic classroom materials. They come to school everyday with a passion to learn. They have all set high goals for themselves and are college-bound students. They have a positive attitude and are appreciative of what we have in the classroom, no matter what the condition is.

These students should not be deprived of education just because they cannot afford classroom materials.

Our classroom resources are low due to funding. The classroom books we have are falling apart and students often have to share. Our school lacks the technology needed to perform well on the standardized tests. Students need to be able to have access to technology in order to feel comfortable using it during a standardized test.

My Project

As a 6th grade teacher at my school, I took over the Middle School Student Council this year. As the Student Council adviser, it is my job to come up and execute fun and exciting events such as themed dances, Breakfast with Santa, field day, etc. for the students. These fundraisers help fund meaningful experiences for students who can not afford them (class trips, materials for students, etc.) Many of these events require us to serve food for the students. We are always begging for griddles and crock pots to cook these items. That is why I've requested these items to use at these events.

These items will be used by the students to help document how much money has been raised from their events.

They will also be used to help organize items.
