This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

In an era when testing reigns supreme, the arts have become more and more necessary to allow for balance in our students' lives. My school is located in the South East area of Washington, D.C.

My Title I school is lucky to have an increasingly diverse group of students that reflects our changing city.

Despite the many challenges they face in this low income/high poverty area, my students are curious, hilarious, and eager for opportunities that extend their learning past the typical classroom setting. I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My Project

Please help us raise money for our arts program! Our student set of cameras were stolen over the summer a few years ago and they were never replaced. I’ve bought a of couple (terrible) cheap used cameras online but the low quality have been frustrating to my students. I have one “good” camera with over 10 megapixels and they all have to wait in line for several class periods for it. I would love to give my students four 20+ pixel cameras for a chance to really play with photography, learn how to take pictures, the anatomy of the camera and set up great shots that they’re happy with.
