Middle School is Hard: Keeping Organized Shouldn't Be!
Help me give my students the composition notebooks they need to be successful with writing every day and also to support our 7th-grade team in teaching students organizational strategies to be successful in middle school and beyond!
My students are resourceful, bright, curious children from a plethora of backgrounds in a mid-sized city in the Midwest. With the opportunity and the instruction to use tools properly and engage their minds, they flourish. Many do not have all of the materials that they need to be successful at school for a variety of reasons, and this problem can lead to them not engaging fully in the work they need to do or them feeling inadequate or discouraged, a problem for too many young people.
When they know what they need to do and have the materials to do so, all of our children strive to be successful, and they become powerful change agents for our school and community.
Our school allows them the structure to grow through middle school with many of the same students and strong teacher teams to support them, creating a sense of family.
When they gain all of the skills they need to be successful not only academically but also organizationally and with time management, too, I know they will be unstoppable! As we say every day in our roundtable homerooms, "We are kind. We are smart. We are knights!"
My Project
Our 7th-grade team works diligently every day to make sure that our students have the necessary skills to be successful inside and outside of the classroom. We work on social-emotional development, critical thinking skills and how school communities can work together and learn cooperatively. We have very high expectations for our children!
With all of the hurdles adolescents face regularly concerning how others view them and their role in an ever-changing society and within their own families, they shouldn't have the extra worry of how to access the basic materials needed to stay on top of completing classroom work and learning how to be organized.
Our team wants to help teach them organizational strategies and also make sure all students have access to the materials needed for success in writing and to prepare for high school.
