Our fifth graders are new to our middle school this year, as are some of the fifth grade teachers. This was a big move for our school district sending the fifth grade students from the elementary schools and making them a part of the middle school.Because of the move, our classes are departmentalized even more than in the elementary schools.
Our students are provided with even more learning opportunities at the middle school than they were in their elementary buildings.
The students have expressed their excitement to be "big kids" in their new school. They are enjoying the noticeable "freedom" and "independence" that they didn't have before. Along with those come great responsibility of which the students are rising to the occasion!
My Project
Fifth grade students will be learning United States geography this year in fifth grade. Along with the many research type activities, we wish to offer a hands on approach of the map of the U.S. Puzzles are great logic building activities and with U.S. map puzzles, students will be able to study the location of the states in an active and engaging manner.
These various US Map puzzles will be utilized in learning centers as well as used for extra learning activities during enrichment classes.
Students will be actively engaged in the learning of the geography of their country while building logic skills.
