Great students in a great school! Our school is a Title I middle school (grades 6-8) with over 80 students in the band program (beginning, intermediate, and advanced bands). The majority of students involved in the band program use school-owned instruments during their band careers in middle and high school. There is outstanding support for the program in the school. However, the band program itself has a limited budget and is unable to sustain purchasing supplies for students in the program.
My Project
Our students need a good snare drum to use in band. This drum and stand would be used during each band class during the day. It would also be used by students as they prepare music for honor band auditions, high school band auditions, talent shows, musicals, and in cooperation with other music and fine arts outlets at the school and in the district. We are slowly adding percussion equipment to our program as we have one properly functioning snare and multiple percussion students in each class. A quality instrument will provide our students with the opportunity to play with a darker, more crisp sound.
