I live and teach in a rural county in southwestern Virginia. My students from various backgrounds ranging from poverty to wealthy. We have lost quite a bit of our population in the past 10 years and so funds have been tight for our schools. I teach grades 6-8, and am the only art teacher. After 6th grade many kids don't have the option to take art again until high school.
Therefore, I try to expose my students to many various types of art techniques, artists and styles of art.
I hope to develop their artistic abilities and to be able to appreciate art.
My Project
My students are in grades 6th -8th and would like to do some art projects that involve crafting. I would love to introduce them to weaving, various styles of collaging with some new cutters and a variety of papers like construction papers and decorative papers. We are also interested in a DVD about Color and its properties in art.
We could also use some google eyes, feathers and beads to help decorate the paper mache projects we intend on making.
My students are very creative and would love to have these supplies for their creativity and exploration with the art materials.
