My Students

Our school educates the whole child through a balanced curriculum of art, academics, music, and handwork. At our public charter school, we strive to provide Waldorf education to those who would not otherwise have the means. The children in our charter school are from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. Our school community is strong and active. My class has grown up together in the same small school with the same students and main class teacher since 1st grade. As a community of learners, our students support each other and there is a familial feeling cultivated as the students grow and experience the curriculum together.

My Project

Developing a feeling for and a relationship to the lives of the people who lived throughout history can best be advanced through a story. At our school, the sixth graders learn about the history of the Middle Ages. The Inquisitor's Tale, by the critically acclaimed author Adam Gidwitz, is the perfect class reader to help enhance the children's learning.

A class set of the Inquisitor's Tale will provide my students a trip back in time.

In addition, the best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading while learning about the lives of those that lived during that time period.
