My students need a mid year stock up on supplies for our classroom. The flu has not been very kind to our school this winter, so we are running low on tissues, wipes, and paper towels.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing, hard working, talented children from the south side of Chicago. The vast majority of them come from poverty stricken backgrounds and typically do not have the funds necessary to purchase most or any of their own school supplies. Over the last few years, our test scores have risen and middle school specifically has done incredibly well on standardized testing.
My team and I believe that the student success we've seen over the last five years is simply because of the hard work that our students put into their learning.
Our middle school students genuinely want to do well, have been accepted into some of the city's best high schools.
My Project
We need to keep our students healthy here at school. I plan on using these resources to conduct daily cleanings of our classroom here at school in order to keep the germs away. Students have also inquired how they can help keep everything clean, so I plan on assigning jobs to various students within middle school to make sure that all of our classrooms are in pristine condition.
Really bad colds and the flu have been running rampant through our student body and I want to do my part to keep everyone healthy and safe by providing tissues, Clorox wipes, antibacterial hand wipes and paper towels.
Because so many students have missed time due to illness, I've also needed to create learning at home packets, thus the need for more printer ink as I've been responsible for putting the packets together myself.
