Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a fifth grade teacher in a building where 47% of our building qualifies for free and reduced lunch. 25% of our students come from a Limited English background. I am requesting seven microscopes to be used during science lab. These microscopes would be used to teach students how to prepare a slide, how to use the microscope correctly,and how to record data that they find when using the microscope. The microscopes would allow the students to explore their world and make inferences about their world. I currently have 21 students in my classroom that these microscopes would benefit this year, but I will be able to use these microscopes every year. In the long run, hundreds of students would benefit from having microscopes available in the classroom. By having the experience of working with microscopes, students will begin to experience the joys of discovery! Thank you for considering my proposal.
