There are many things that my students need to learn this school year. They need to learn how to sing like professionals. They are beautiful tenors, sopranos and altos. However, microphones would make them sound even better.
My students are from low-income families. About 90% qualify for the free lunch program. Some of them live with grandparents or are in foster homes. That's why I want them to succeed in school. This will lead to them going to college, which in turn will lead to them finding jobs and becoming successful adults.
We need some new microphones to project all of the lovely singing and speaking voices! We currently only have corded microphones, but since we perform grade level musicals and choir performances in the gym, it is difficult to adequately mic students. The cordless microphones will be used more efficiently in the large space in the gym. The microphone stands will benefit in the amplification of instrumentalists, since the microphone stands are designed to move around easily.
Music always helps students to learn. In the choir, the students have to read music and memorize 1000s of words. This is a skill that will help them in life.
We are trying to become the best choir in the state. We have amazing voices but we need to learn how to perform with microphones. These microphones will help us to hear each other in the large space that we practice in. It will also help others in the audience to hear us when we perform.

We will show others that they shouldn't be afraid to perform or speak in front of a large crowd. It's empowering to be heard by everyone. We should learn to speak and sing to a crowd so that they can see that they can do it too. There's no need to be afraid.

This project will help us to create a community of performers who are proud of themselves and their performances. A lot of times audiences will lose interest because they can't hear the performers. We will be able to connect with the audience if we have professional microphones that make us sound louder.
