I teach computer education to students from Kindergarten to 8th grade! When students enter my classroom they are super excited to jump on the computer and learn, even if it is just to learn how to type!
My students light up when they able to complete a task or figure something out that challenges them.
They love to work together and share what they have accomplished. Often if called upon them to help their classmates, they jump up and do so! Sometimes my classroom can become chatty, but it is because they are excited about what they are doing!
I love my classroom to be hands on! With projects such as these, they can put what they are learning in to something that actually functions!
My Project
What I have enjoyed the most about teaching my students code is to watch their minds think! Coding can be a "trying" experience as they look for patterns and common sequences to complete a task!
The micro:bits platform allows for a tangible and real-world application to those coding skills.
Coding is so much more than technology skills. These students need to use critical thinking and problems solving skills to master their goals! Micro:bits bring their work to life!
Using math, science, and coding skills they will take what they have learned and put it into use!
The micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer that will let our students get creative. Students can code, customize and control your micro:bit! They will be able to create unique creations, from robots to musical instruments!
Check out these statistics: 90% of students said the micro:bit showed them that anyone can code, 86% of students said the micro:bit made Computer Science more interesting, and 70% more girls said they would choose Computing as a school subject after using the micro:bit.
