My students live in a rugged and beautiful town. We live right where agricultural lands meet the coastal waters along the Atlantic. Students grow up learning firsthand about wild blueberries and lobsters.
We love to learn about our world through personal and unique experiences.
We work to understand the people, places and things around us. Our small historic town has links to the Revolutionary War. My students are creative and hungry for knowledge. We have limited resources available in our school, so we have to be creative to maximize every opportunity for each of our amazing students.
My Project
My students enthusiasm for technology is astounding. They want to take their basic computer coding skills to the next level with microbits, a small programmable computer. With microbits they will be able to design a program, download it to the microbits, and test it out.
My students will develop their own unique research questions, design a coded program to collect data with sensors and analyze the data.
We will then share and critique our findings. This project will put my students in the driver seat of their own investigation. They will also learn the valuable lesson that every experiment has limitations. Microbits will bring numerous STEM opportunities into our classroom and engage each student.
