Our school is 98% poverty. This is the highest percentage in our city, and, therefore, we are trying as many ways as we can to help our kids perform well in the classroom on a daily basis. We expect the best out them every day. Our teachers use "think outside the box" methods to keep the students engaged, whether individually or collaboratively. Differentiating our instructions will help meet the needs of all of our students. We have a variety of learning levels within each grade level.
We want to be able to provide for our students to have what they need to be successful.
With some of our primary grades using Chrome Books, the ability to have a mouse, helps our students to be able to use the Chrome Book with less stress. It is difficult for them to use the "pad" on the Chrome Book to move their cursor around. By purchasing numerous mice for the Chrome Book, our students will feel more confident using the device.
My Project
With some of our primary grades using Chrome Books has their main use of technology, the pad to move the cursor, and to facilitate through programs, can be very difficult and frustrating for 8-10 year-olds. Our solution, is to be able to purchase wired mice that will hook up to their Chrome Book and they can use as if they were on a computer. They are also portable, so when students are moving to different groups or to different classrooms, they can take their Chrome Book and wired mouse with them and have the confidence and excitement to be able to learning with technology, instead of the obstacles of being able to figure out how to get the cursor to move from place to place. With student frustrations, comes..... solutions from teachers and students collaboratively working together!
