Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are passionate, amazing, diligent workers, ready to conquer academic goals. Our 7th grade students, some of which are special needs and/or ESL (English as a Second Language) are inquisitive learners who are highly motivated by hands-on learning and technology based lessons. However, many of them come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and often lack access to technology and/or internet anywhere else but our classroom.
We do our best to offer meaningful and exciting technology based lessons to our students, but often lack the resources required to meet the needs of our diverse group of students: SDC, RSP, ELS, and GATE.
With the ever-growing demands of technology inclusion in the classroom we hope to not only provide our students with real world computer skills but also to incorporate a more advance form of learning through a computer based curriculum that requires the use of computers. The mice will not only help absorb the inevitable wear and tear of our equipment but it will also help by saving precious time and ensure student learning.
My Project
Our newly adopted English Language Arts curriculum has a large technology component. As a result, we have just received a class set of new Chromebooks. Although we have taken the right step to ensure that these new Chromebooks withstand the daily wear and tear of middle school use, we know that a class set of computer mice and mouse pads can help in the gentle handling of our new equipment. In addition, we are certain that the use of a mouse and mouse pads will make working on a personal computer much easier to navigate and input information for our group of general education and special education students as they work collaboratively in the co-teaching setting.
