Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 5th & 6th graders in a predominantly Hispanic and African American community. Many of our students are newcomers and are navigating the school environment while learning a new language. Students are entering the intermediate phase of our K-8 school. They are excited to switch classes and have additional responsibilities and lockers this year.

My students are enjoying the new learning environment and have requested technology to make classroom discussions about the books we read together more fun and engaging.!

My Project

Our students participate in classroom discussions about novels they are reading as a class. Working on deep thinking skills and critical thinking skills has been a struggle. Using the wireless microphones will allow our students to engage in conversations in a fun and interactive way. Students learning a new language are often shy and hesitant to share answers or thoughts in class and with these fun microphones could encourage them to share more often. We have purchased one of these for our classroom and the students love them! Our engagement has skyrocketed, cannot wait to have enough for each table group to share.
