I currently have 22 energetic first grade students. We are a Title 1 school with free and reduced lunch and roughly 550 students total, grades 1st-4th. My students range in their academic abilities, being at or below grade level. Each of them brings a unique zest of life to our classroom, and I am honored to teach them.
My students are creative individuals.
We are getting ready to start a brand new school year, and that typically means sharing! I enjoy giving them the chance to be heard and take the lead. Starting the year off on the right foot can make a huge difference in the make-up of our adventures together.
My Project
I chose the hmovie Wirless Bluetooth Karaoke Microphone for my first graders as a way of giving all students a chance to shine and be heard.
Each student has a voice.
The microphones will be useful during Morning Meetings when students go around the circle and share thoughts of the day, talk about upcoming plans and even discuss what they enjoy about class and each other in general. Having the microphones will give them a sense of ownership and spotlight.
During reading time, students often don't hear themselves when they say the words. With the microphone being connected to an iPad, students can read into the mics and hear how they sound, which will help them make adjustments, catch unknown words and more! I will also use the microphones for Guided Reading groups. When the student has the mic, they will be able to retell what is taking place in a story and share what they are noticing.
There are so many possibilities for the hmovie Wireless Bluetooth Karaoke Microphone in my classroom. I am always looking for ways to incorporate technology and give students an outlet that is not their typical learning style.
