Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in the Newark Unified School District, where we have started a new band program this year. Our last band program was cut due to funding issues years ago. We still have need in our new band program for four metronomes to use as teaching aides and for student use. These would help train each student to play their instruments and make delicate adjustments needed to adjust pitch. Metronomes also help students develop concepts of rhythm consistency and tempo. These would be invaluable to the students in learning about and understanding the basics of music. We have eight elementary schools and I teach at four of those. Many of our students are from low income and/or middle class, hard working families who often do not have the opportunity to participate in such programs. We will be starting 600 new instrumental students this year and the kids are extremely excited to have this opportunity! Can you help us?
