Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are America. Our school is comprised of a cross-section of nationalities and cultures. A majority of our students come from El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico and other Central American countries. Many are English Language Learners (ELLs). We are a high-poverty school district. Our needs are great but our dedication is strong.

We as a school community want the best for our students.

Our students face many daily challenges. Overcrowded housing conditions, single parent homes, deportation of parents and lack of access to some of the things others take for granted.

We want our school to be a beacon of light. A place where our students feel safe, respected and valued.

My Project

What would be better than a programmable scrolling message board in the lobby of our school? This resource would be a welcome addition to our school community. Kim aced her last math test. She arrives at school and a scrolling message congratulates her in BIG, bright letters. Today is Jason's birthday. The message board congratulates him on turning nine. Ashley and Michael were selected as the leads in the school play. They find out in a fun way when they see the congratulatory message.

What a fun, exciting and engaging way to celebrate successes, encourage growth and welcome visitors among many other things.
