This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
― Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!
My class is a great group of second graders who need to improve their vocabulary and reading with the help of high quality books.
My students are a great group of second graders who are eager to learn.
They include regular and special education students. They love to read and listen to books. The majority of students in my school are African American and live in a high poverty area. Most of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
For a variety of reasons, many of the students in my class do not have access to books at home or not read to at home.
My Project
I will use the books I have requested in create lessons which will include comprehension, grammar and vocabulary skills to challenge my students to become better readers and writers. My students will analyze the structure and craft that great writers use to engage readers. My students will be exposed to new vocabulary and characters. They will be able to experience new places and ideas through the rich quality literature.
Also, my students will study grammar skills as they enjoy engaging stories.
Donations to my project will allow my students to become better readers and writers.
They will be able to use the skills they will learn as they analyze the literature when they take standardized tests.
