Mermaids, Native Americans, and Crocodiles...Oh My!
My students need mermaid skirts, native American costumes, top hats and crocodile hats to help turn them into their characters for their Peter Pan Jr. musical.
I work in a very large elementary school in a suburban neighborhood in Virginia. Our school has over a thousand students and is growing because of lots of new development being built around the school.
Our school is a "Leader In Me" school.
Our school teaches the Franklin Covey's Seven Habits. My students love to work on Habit 6- Syngerize in music class as it takes lots of synergy to create music! My students love to shine as leaders throughout the school, especially in music performances.
The population at my school represents students from many different cultures and economic backgrounds. `
My Project
Our school has taken on our very first broadway musical production in the school's history. Our fifth grade students will perform Peter Pan Jr. this year! They have been working hard at learning their songs and script. They are leaders and they can't wait to show of their leadership skills on the stage.
We currently do not own any costumes, props, or sets of any type.
We have native americans, mermaids, and even a crocodile and more that we are trying to get to have an unified look. By adding some simple costume pieces- matching skirts for our mermaids, some costumes for our native americans, a top hat for our John and even a crocodile hat for our crocodile it will help turn my students into the characters they are playing. These costumes pieces would really help our musical turn from a story to a Broadway Musical!
