Our elementary school is blessed with a diverse community. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school where our instruction is driven by what each student needs to be able to master each concept. Our second grade classrooms are filled with 25 students in each room, many of whom come from low-income housing and receive free or reduced-price lunch. In these cold winter days in NW Pennsylvania, many of my kids are coming to school after nights of no heat or food. School is their safe place where they can explore who they are as individuals, and who they want to become.
I strive to give students the skills they need to be successful learners so that they may reach their full potential and become the leaders of tomorrow.
My classroom is focused on students becoming great learners, and leaders. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves daily and stretch themselves to make growth. Once my students step into my classroom, they can begin a new adventure into anything they wish to be.
My Project
Imagining holding the human brain right in the middle of your hand. Now imagine the spark you would feel when you were able to rotate the brain 360 degrees, and being able to select different lobes of the brain and learn new information about that lobe and watch its functions. How much would your love of learning increase? Merge cubes will allow for my students to work in small groups to discovery educational content through virtual exploration. Merge Cubes allow us to introduce Augmented Reality into the classroom through holograms. Merge Cubes are used with AR goggles, laptops, tablets, phones, to explore a variety of academic content areas and spark the love inquiry.
Merge cube will give students the ability to manipulate an object in new ways because of AR technology; this technology gives students the ability to do new things that students would not have the ability to do otherwise.
Students will be able to rotate these objects 360 degrees, where they can zoom in or out for new information. Students are able to explore these new worlds independently and at their own pace. This allows us as teachers to hand off the learning to students for them to become the experts and teachers to their classmates.
Through Merge Cube students will be able to work collaborative to create their own "worlds" through the power of coding. They will be able to solve problems using critical thinking skills. Along with enhancing in their spatial awareness because they Merge Cube allows for students to see objects proportionally to their surroundings.
Merge Cube in the classroom will allow for students prepare for their future career because of the technology innovation we will have in our classroom.
