My students need classroom magazines to broaden their reading genres and to study high interest, standards-based topics. They need 28 subscriptions to Weekly Reader.
No reading experience should be a disappointment. Unfortunately, for many students, their interests take them to topics not usually written about on their reading levels. Weekly Reader answers the call of interested students everywhere with classroom magazines written for each grade level!
My students are the picture of America.
They come from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and vastly varied socioecomic lifestyles. Each child comes with their own life experiences, strengths, and weaknesses. Every child wants to feel safe and successful. My students are curious, humorous, and zealous. They enjoy learning with their eyes, ears, and hands. As a classroom family, students work together, learn from each other, and strive for personal goals of personal best.
My Project
Weekly Reader classroom magazines offer my students opportunities to read and learn about high interest topics in the areas of science, social studies, and current events. They offer students the chance to study in areas that are typically not written for second graders, enrich my standards-based classroom lessons, and broaden the scope of genres the children can read. Talk about getting the most bang for your buck! This one resource is able to supplement the learning of my students in reading, science, and social studies!
Choosing to help fund this project would make a tremendous impact on my class.
My students would be able to get their hands on nonfiction reading materials, read topics they are enthusiastic about, and continue to build their reading skills. We are excited about the possibilities and so thankful for your consideration of our request!
