Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school in Texas. Many of my students are in single parent households and receive a free or reduced lunch due to their socioeconomic status. Many of my students do not have the opportunity to take part in multiple social environments. Limited opportunities for my students to be exposed to different social settings hinders them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences needed to get ahead in today's fast paced society.
We all know that social interaction plays a large part in our daily lives.
Due to the lack of collaborative learning environment setups within our schools it is difficult to set our students up for success. I may not be able to control what happens outside school, but I can certainly control their experiences while they are in my classroom. Finding new ways to integrate collaborative dialogue within my classroom will certainly help my students to continue on a path of academic excellence. Providing students will background knowledge and understanding is important. I would love to give my students a powerful tool we all have, a voice.
My Project
Merge cubes will allow my students to be able to learn in a more engaging way. Our students today learn in many different ways and are constantly needing to be engaged in the curriculum. Many of the students in my classroom do not have the money to have other experiences that other students will. By providing these Merge cubes it will allow me to give them a virtual experience that will not only be "cool" but will be educational and purposeful. Students can use these to tie into lessons that they can build background knowledge on and also use them as tools to build their own projects and lessons.
If we continue to teach our children how we did yesterday then we will rob them of their future today.
Students have many learning styles and come from different backgrounds. These Merge cubes will help me to reach all my students in a different and engaging way. Please help to give them the technological tools to make their classroom more innovative and fun all while gaining the knowledge they need to succeed.
