Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are kids full of energy and curiosity for new things and subjects. 90% of my classroom's first language is Spanish, and they learn all the subject areas in Spanish and English. In fifth grade, students learn both languages, and they need to be proficient in both languages by the end of the school year. They love arts and crafts, sports, and science.
My kids come from an immigrant neighborhood, and I share a lot of the same traditions and culture as they do.
Teaching is something that I enjoy and love.
My goal this year to implement art, social studies, and science in everything we learn. As their teacher, I need to work hard to motivate and energize my students and for them to take the learning process in a serious way. Students learn so many things when there is a good use of classroom resources and lessons.
My Project
Last year, my students had one of the best experiences when they visited the Meow Wolf museum. This experienced opened my students writing, literacy and art skills. Students in my class were ecstatic when they were discovering the history and stories of the Meow Wolf house and all their secrets. I would love to repeat the experience for my new students this school year 2018-2019.
This year my students are in 5th grade and many of them do not have the financial resources to make a trip to Santa Fe and visit Meow Wolf.
As a teacher, I want to facilitate and bring unique lessons into my student's academic life. It is important for me to see my students explore and enjoy different activities that can have a great impact on my students' development, creativity, and knowledge. I am a huge fan of all types of art, writing, and music. The museum of "Meow Wolf" is becoming a famous museum in New Mexico and the country. Meow Wolf is well known for using visual arts, music, poetry, and stimulation of the imagination in all the surroundings of the museum.
