Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most people will admit that writing is not their favorite subject. My goal is to change that for my second graders.
My school is located in central Arizona.
I teach 25, enthusiastic and intelligent children. They are all learning how to read, write, and speak English. My students have many obstacles but they always overcome them. They are eager to learn and always come ready to learn.
My Project
I am requesting books from our favorite authors that will serve as mentor texts. When teaching children that are learning a second language, they need role models that will show them the proper way to speak English. Due to some laws in Arizona, all our ESL students are grouped separately and don't have role models in the classroom. Knowing this, I must call upon experts to help me teach my students. These experts come to our room in the form of books! These books are going to help me teach all the writing traits and get my students to become confident and capable writers.
By supporting this project, you will be contributing rich resources for my students.
All children need role models, especially children that are learning how to navigate the English language. I will be using these books throughout the rest of my teaching career. Therefore, you will make an impact on thousands of children with this one donation.
