My Students
My students are eager to learn and love coming to school. Our school is located in a small town. My students are composed of a diverse group of learners from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Each one of them is unique and offers valuable insight to our classroom community.
The classroom is their second home, and it should continue to be a safe place for them to learn and grow. Second graders are energetic and passionate about learning. They love hearing stories and finding a cozy spot to curl up with a good book. They learn through doing and enjoy playing math games. Each one of them is unique and offers valuable insight to our classroom community.
My Project
Children learn in a variety of ways, and it is so important to embrace their learning styles. It is my goal to enrich math class with the addition of picture books to reach my learners in a different way. My learners will be able to connect with these stories while practicing critical thinking skills. Through the use of literature, my students will discover the power of mathematical investigation.
Using picture books for math will make lessons engaging, fun, and creative while integrating literacy skills. These picture books will allow for an interesting and unique context for my mathematicians to view crucial life skills such a money, time, place value, geometry, measurement, and more. Hearing these stories will inspire students to notice how math is embedded into their daily lives.
