My Students

Our students walk into our classrooms every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.

I would like to improve my library of mentor texts to support my literacy lessons.

I teach at a Title I school in Michigan where most of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.

My Project

Kindergarten has changed drastically over the years. Therefore, it is important to find books that students will be able to relate to. These mentor texts will enhance our reading and writing lessons. They will engage my students and reinforce the standards being taught in a kid-friendly manner.

My students love to be read to.

Therefore, these books will be vital to ensuring my students are focused and engaged in each lesson. It is difficult to find books that explain content material in an age-appropriate way. I am confident that I have chosen titles that will leave my littles in awe.
