Mental Health Needs During an Unusual School Year!
Help me give my students social-emotional resources that include books, activites, games, sensory stimulating items to meet their mental health needs virtually and in-person!
My students are a diverse group of k-8 children who are wonderful beyond measure! Unfortunately, this pandemic has created a collective sense of anxiety and uncertainty in many of our students and families. Many of my students are having a difficult time managing their feelings on their own and do not have the resources necessary to do so.
The materials in this project will help students cope and manage emotions and express their thoughts and ideas through virtual and in-person counseling.
We are doing the best that we can to meet their needs while we work virtually but it has proven to be difficult without the necessary resources. This project includes activities, books, games, and sensory stimulating items like fidgets, puddy and squeeze balls that will be used in in-person and virtual school counseling.
My Project
This project will help all of my students start a comprehensive school counseling program from their homes and transition to in-school counseling.
With these items students will learn how to cope and manage their feelings, including stress and anxiety.
They will have a space, both virtual and in-person, where they will feel safe and supported and will be able to work through their problems. With these materials, I will be able to fully support students and we will work together to learn healthy coping skills and problem-solving skills, regulate emotions, and build positive relationships.
