This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello! I am part of the school psychiatric social work (PSW) team at a Title I school with 3,000+ students, majority Latinx. Our schools' core values are equity, choice, empathy, excellence and community and as PSWs we embody those values through everything we do for our students. The PSW team needs your help to complete our calm space on campus. Students we serve are diverse, they identify Hispanic or Latinx, Black, Asian are multilingual emerging, have a learning dif-ability, identify as LGBTQIA +, or nonbinary.

The impact of COVID has been vast to our communities but with a space where students can come during their toughest times, can make all the difference.

Research shows that your environment can affect your mental health and we want to create a space less institutionalized and more inclusive and welcoming using salt lamps, oil diffuser, a carpet, frames to put positive and relaxing messages up. Thank you for your consideration.
