My Students
I am a mental health counselor working in West Baltimore. I provide intensive mental health services to children ages 5-12 in a Child's Psychiatric Day Program in need of intensive treatment for failure to thrive in the classroom and/or community. The students who come to the Partial Day Program come referred by their school or current outpatient mental health provider for a higher level of care.
The Child's Partial Hospitalization Empowerment Program emphasizes improving one's well-being.
The children that come to the program receive schooling, individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. I assist my students' emotional, behavioral, and social challenges that compromise their ability to succeed academically.
Every day, I work to alleviate behavioral or emotional concerns.
Behaviors cited most frequently include students who:
-have poor self-image, make negative self-statements
-have low self-confidence, avoid the difficult
-are depressed, unhappy
My Project
The sources I have selected are Toon Graphics to help my students understand topics of mental health and life in a simple and fun way. TOON Books are the first high-quality comics designed for children ages three and up. Each book in the collection is just right for reading to the youngest child.
Toon Books lovingly-produced books combine original stories, stunning artwork, and quality printing to inspire kids to TOON into Reading!
The resources in my cart will introduce new topics to my kids. Topics include Bullying, Finding Your Place in the World, Drawing Inspiration From a Book, Letting Go, Relating to People, Reading Facial Expressions, Heroes, Villains, Conflict, and Retelling a Story.
