This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students at my school come from high-poverty areas were even leaving the building is dangerous, no matter what time of day. The school is not too far away, but it is at least a train ride away and provides some distance from their home lives.

These students risk their own safety and come to school instead of staying home, locked behind their doors, because they want better lives.

It is my mission to arm them with the skills they need to attain and lead those better lives.

My Project

Our students have some English classes that last two hours each. As such, we need to incorporate some breaks into each day, so students have some time to destress and breathe.

These art workbooks will be a great, productive way to have a break and reset ourselves.

Affording students the opportunity to create art as they wish is one of the most beautiful things I can think of. They will be able to reset themselves during the day while also producing something they may be proud of. Art is a terrific break!
